Lady Bratt’s RinCon after thoughts plus Zombie Mosh review-

As Hoss has already stated, the Guise Knights crew went to Rincon 2009, at the Tucson Convention Center, it is a newer convention 2 years old. So it admittedly had its organizational issues, lack of gaming signup sheets and not letting people know to have cash in hand for payment for the convention.(Small issue but irked me when having to pay an extra 3 bucks to use the ATM down from the building). The weekend was still a good one, it had some fantastic Special Guests, Wil Wheaton (hoping I wasn’t too fan girl), the lovely Ms Jesse Hartley, as well as John Wick, and James Ernest.

I got to try a few new games (Blokus, Aye Dark Overlord, Red Dragon Inn)which I enjoyed immensely played some oldies but goodies(Dominion*which I made it to final table for, Descent, Apples to Apples Late Night Edition), got to turn heads in my new tribal costume ala Zoot, which is always fun. ;-) I enjoyed watching mine as they played and had a good time. Introduced friend Dingo to Gaming conventions, spoiled her a bit, and enjoyed watching her sing on Rock Band with Wil Wheaton. Got to see some old convention friends and meet new ones. So all in all a good three day weekend and I for one am willing to give it another try.

Also looking forward to Dark Con (January) and Random Con (July)

On to the review:

Zombie Mosh:

* Designer(s): Stephen McLaughlin, K Joseph Huber

* Manufacturer(s): Bucephalus Games

* Year: 2009 * Players: 2 – 6 * Time: 15 – 30 minutes * Ages: 9 and up

This is a new short party game, with metal Thrashing Zombies. The point of the game is to be the last zombie standing. You mosh until 3 limbs come off, head, arms or legs; each player has the same amount of hit points over different parts of the body. So where you may have 2 hit points on your head versus other players 3 points on their head. You use cards to see where you are damaged and you have hit point markers to place on your player’s card. The round goes like this whoever is the lead mosh’er doles out 4 cards face down, and places 2 damage cards at the start face up in front of every player. The first player then chooses to play 2 cards to either null damage given or give out damage cards to other players. This goes around until you are back to your lead mosh’er. Then play goes in reverse order either covering damage or giving damage, once back to lead mosh’er you tally out damage and do another round. Play continues until there is one zombie left standing.

GUISE KNIGHTS GO TO RINCON

Check me out. Went to RinCon last weekend, had a pretty good time. Also in attendance were Ms. Kitty, Lady Bratt, the Jolly Red Giant, Sanity and her hubby (The Immortal God Emperor of Cleveland), a few hundred gamers from the Southern reaches of Arizona, a few industry notables like James Ernest and John Wick, and geek media sensation Wil Wheaton. This is the second time RinCon has been held, this year at the Tucson Convention Center. Still a young Con, the weekend suffered from some organizational snafu’s. (more…)
