Lament of Eastern Block
It would be a great day to say that I love all games, and that all games are equal in my eyes. That’s a wonderful sentiment, but it’s about as honest as a used car salesman. There are those games that I simply refuse to play. Case in point: RISK
I’m not sure if it’s just because I am not a strategy game player. I know there are games out there that have strategy that I play, and I’ve even surprised myself by beating my friends that play strategy flawlessly. But when it comes to RISK, my friends, don’t try to involve me.
I feel perhaps that it may be the minutiae, the in-depth decision making that I’m NOT INVOLVED IN which gets under my skin. A person’s turn largely consists of his own movements against other players, and it takes a while to make the decisions involved. And if they happen to be shooting for the Eastern Block countries, well, I wish they’d just die already. I’ve seen people take twenty minutes or longer on a turn in some games, and I tell you, I’d rather be at a dentist’s office.
So, since there are occasionally games I don’t like, I’m sure that there are games you don’t like as well. Swing by the forum and tell us which ones they are, and why.
It’s a cleansing experience. You’ll feel better for it. I promise.
