Getting Henged

Forged of sweat, blood, and stone left sitting out on the Salisbury plain, it doesn’t take much effort to figure out what people mean when they mention “Stonehenge”. Ancient monoliths and trilithons set about in an enormous construct of Druidic proportions that we still know very little about. So, of course, there has to be a boardgame based on it.

Stonehenge: An Anthology Boardgame” is, in fact, more than a simple boardgame. As the name hints, it’s several boardgames. The nice thing about it is that you don’t have to buy the game multiple times.

The game itself comes with five different rules sets, created by some big name game designers. I mean Big Names like Richard Garfield (Magic: the Gathering), James Ernest (Kill Doctor Lucky), Bruno Faidutti (Citadels), Richard Borg (Battlelore), and Mike Selinker (Unspeakable Words). So, maybe you’ve heard of at least one of them. I know I have.

I’m not going to go into the included designs of the game. I’ll leave that to the handy-dandy hyper-links that I’ve provided to the game’s website. The game can either be good, or very good and it doesn’t need to be the same game in a row. Rules change, but the pieces stay the same.

Now, if it weren’t cool enough that this is five games rolled into one right out of the box, consider this: You can make your own rules. The game company Titanic Games(tm) supports the “write your own rules” idea by providing you the ability to create your own rules sheets from their website. This means that the game can be whatever you want it to be. You are only limited by your ability to create.

Stonehenge will be available at RandomCon for your playing pleasure.

Please swing by and check it out!
